On February 18th and 19th, Budapest will be the capital of songwriting when the second DEX Songwriter Expo takes place offering more than 40 different programs.

Over the course of the two days, participants will have the chance to meet music industry professionals and music creators from Hungary and abroad. Dina Mystris, the Swedish talent manager, will present at “Pitch Perfect: How best to communicate with the music industry. ” Ken Chong, Singaporean composer and professor at various distinguished institutions, will provide insight into the Asian music industry’s inner workings. The internationally recognised Croatian songwriter, performer and creator Tamara Obrovac will share her know-how and experiences with us , as well as composer-producer Will Simms.

Anyone can apply with their own composition to Harald Hanisch’s listening session, where they will get feedback from both the Viennese Music Academy’s pop music lecturer as well as the audience.

This year’s program is enriched with presentations on the process of songwriting. Young, internationally successful bands introduce the creative phases behind their most popular songs, illustrated and accompanied by live music. Among others, Apey and the Pea, who have performed at all the major showcase festivals, will represent metal, while Margaret Island will represent pop.
