Admission requirements for authors & composers

At least one of your works has already been used within the past year or in the current year in one of the following ways:

public performance or
broadcast on radio or TV or
online (internet, mobile phone networks) or
distribution via physical sound carriers (CD, etc) already available in the market

After checking the admission requirements, AKM sends a link with the online admission form to your e‑mail address. Upon receipt of the signed admission form AKM and/or austro mechana notifies you in writing about your admission.

Cost/ one time membership fee

AKM:
€ 78,- (incl. 20% VAT)

austro mechana:
€ 55,- (incl. 20% VAT)

A reduced membership fee of € 12 (incl. 20% VAT) per society is applicable for pupils, apprentices and students up to the age of 27.

Neither AKM nor austro mechana charge any other membership fees.

Admission requirements for music publishers

In order to become a member of AKM and/or austro mechana we need the following documents from music publishing houses:

1) Company related documents:

Sole proprietorship:
trade license or extract from the trade register for the trade “music publisher”

Sole proprietorship entered in the company register (e.U.), GesmbH, OG, KG, and others:
additionally a current excerpt from the companies registry as well as a notice from the trade authority about the appointment of a professional representative.

In case of a foreign company, similar foreign certificates are required to prove the operation of a music publishing house as well as authorised signatories.

2.) Usage oriented documents

We need proof of the usage of a work published by your company within the last year or the current year :

in a public performance or
broadcast on radio or TV or
online (internet, mobile phone networks) or
distribution via physical sound carriers (CD, etc) already available in the market

Documents can be provided via e‑mail or mail.

The process

After checking the admission requirements, AKM mails the admission forms for AKM and austro mechana to your address. Upon receipt of the signed admission form AKM and/or austro mechana notifies you in writing about your admission.

Membership fee

AKM:
€ 130,- (excl. 20% VAT)
